Victoria Beckham with another Hermes Birkin Bag

This has been kept under wraps for a while, but we hear one of Mrs Beckham’s favourite designers, Hermès is rumoured to buy jewellery label Asprey. Rumours have been rife ever since the luxury label exchanged contracts to buy Asprey’s New Bond Street store last week for £75 million, pipping Chanel to the post. Now we hear Hermès may have its sights set on the company itself, although they are still refusing to comment on speculation.

Jean Paul Gaultier is the current creative director at Hermès and things are going from strength to strength with a 7 per cent increase in turnover in the last six months, whilst Asprey are falling down a slippery slope seeing sales drop £4 million in the last year.

According to our sources Asprey may not be able to support itself for much longer and a helping hand from Hermès could be a much needed lifeline.
