James Franco is beginning to make a real name for himself as a fashion director. Previously partnering with 7 For All Mankind, this time he is working with luxury shoe company Stuart Weitzman to create four vignettes. The first two have been released, both starring Petra Nemcova, and are inspired by the 1980s movie Mondo New York.
The first episode entitled “Walking After Midnight,” follows a a young women during a midnight stroll through NYC’s downtown scene. Places she visits include hotspots like Le Baron, Peels, The Hole, and Freeman’s Alley, whilst Girl in a Coma‘s same-named song provides the soundtrack.
The second vignette called “The Closecall,” showcases Nemcova wearing a pair of Closecall black suede and patent-leather ankle boots, at Peels restaurant in the heart of NYC’s Bowery district. On the inspiration and vision for his vignettes James Franco said, ”We liked the idea of a story about walking and, specifically, walking around New York. This was the concept very early on. We used the natural environments on the east side and even used the people that were out at that time.”
The next two episode installments will be release on consecutive “Weitzman Wednesdays” throughout October. Stay tuned for updates!
