The original, and with one purchased every couple of seconds, evidently still the best, L’Oréal Paris’ Elnett Hairspray is not just a true cult beauty product, but an icon. Launched in 1960, where lacquers and pomades were being used to hold and set salon-styled hair, L’Oreal created a fine polymer formula that was set to revolutionise hairstyling. With its lightweight texture that delivered long-lasting hold, weather-proofing and – most pioneering of all – an easy-to-brush-out formula it offered easily-changeable styling to women the world over. Over 50 years later, after a micro-diffusion technology update, it offers the finest of sprays in the almost-unchanged signature gold can.
And so, in tribute to the revolutionary and much-loved product, the brand have created a five-part behind-the-scenes series, hosted by US Harper’s Bazaar’s Derek Blasberg and featuring a whole host of the best of the fashion and beauty worlds, including fashion icon Iris Apfel and drag perfromer Carmen Carerra of Ru Paul’s Drag Race fame. First up in the “Hairspray Confessions” L’oreal web series, is hot model of the moment Coco Rocha.
Keep your eyes open over the next few weeks as we bring you the rest of the series, with Carmen Carrera on August 29, and Iris Apfel on September 5.
