The Dapper Dad Hamper

Father’s Day can be a bit tricky to get right. Most Dads never seem to want anything but you know he’d be offended if you didn’t bother! So, if you want to make your Dad feel special this Father’s Day, John Gregory-Smith has got a few foodie suggestions that might just make his day!

To Send

If you can’t be with you Dad on Father’s Day, why not send him something to show you care.

Fortnum and Mason have some amazing hampers, including their Superior Ploughman’s Hamper and the Dapper Dad. They’re filled with all sorts of delicious treats such as everyone’s favourite; pork pies and stilton cheese! The hampers start at £100 and can be ordered online www.fortnumandmason.com

OR…

If that’s out of your price range how about some Italian classics from Luigi’s Deli in Fulham. Choose from things like a lovely bottle of Vin Santo dessert wine or some Cantuccini biscuits for just under £30. Available to order online from www.luigismailorder.com

To Eat

If you’re going to be able to take your Dad out, I would always suggest a curry.

My best recommendation is Ma Goa in Putney. It does the best Goan food outside of Goa. My favourites are the chicken xhacutti, classic pork vindaloo and the Ma’s fish caldin.

Ma Goa, 242 – 244 Upper Richmond Road, Putney SW15 Tel: 020 8780 1767 www.ma-goa.com

If curries aren’t your Dad’s style, how about going pushing the boat out and trying Le Caprice. It’s my favourite restaurant in London with great food and amazing wine. Their fish cakes are some of the best in town.

Le Caprice Arlington House, 25 Arlington Street, St. James’s, London SW1A 1RJ Tel:020 7629 2239
