Malbec World Day

Malbec World Day

by John Gregory Smith

Wines of Argentina launch the very first Malbec World Day, on Sunday 17th April, to celebrate the wonderful grape. There will be tastings and loads of different events taking place across the UK.

To mark the event, Wines of Argentina are partnering with wineries around the world to create a series of unique ‘vintage 2011’ Malbec wines. Chapel Down, one of the UK’s premier producers, will collaborate with Wines of Argentina to create an authentic Argentine Malbec with an English twist. For the very first time the Argentine and English wine industries will unite to create a unique Malbec at Chapel Down’s state of the art winery in Kent.

The wine will then be aged by Chapel Down, ready to be released on Malbec World Day 2012, when it will be sold in Gaucho Restaurants, at Chapel Down and at selected retailers around the UK as a limited edition.

Events, tastings and offers will be taking place across the UK throughout April to celebrate Malbec World Day, including a large-scale Malbec promotion at Majestic’s 200 stores; a Malbec experience with authentic food; music and tango at the Sunday Times Wine Club Vintage Festival and a Malbec Tasting Day at Harrods on Malbec World Day. Gaucho Restaurants will be marking Malbec World Day with complimentary mini Malbec Masterclasses for all guests dining at a Gaucho restaurant between the 10th and 22nd April.
