Ubuntu Cola

Every now and then a couple of genuinely good ideas pop up and a few years ago exactly this happened and the Fair-trade movement began, trying to ensure better working conditions and wages for producers around the world.

I’m a massive supporter of this cause so I was very pleased when I saw that a new Fairtrade Cola brand, Ubuntu, had been launched.

Ubuntu is working with sugar farmers in Kasinthula, Malawi guaranteeing them a minimum price for their sugar (which means that they actually see the benefit of sales) and also invests in local community projects to help break the cycle of poverty. It’s a fantastic idea and ensures farmers get what they deserve for their hard work.

Ubuntu Cola is now available at Waitrose, priced 59p per can, and it really does taste good. Plus, it’s been picking up fans along the way, including Andy Cato of Groove Armada, so if you’re up for a change (and want to win tickets to Lovebox!) visit their website.

So get in there get buying because the more we do the more we can help people have a sustainable future and get out of the poverty cycle.
