Trailer: Frankenweenie

Tim Burton is back with an animated remake of his original 1984 short of the same title.

“Frankenweenie” revolves around a young boy, Victor Frankenstein, who loses his beloved dog Sparky in a car accident. In an attempt to bring Sparky back to life, Victor creates Frankenweenie, a new and improved version of his favourite mutt. But Sparky starts causing mischief around town, and Victor must convince the town that Sparky is still the loveable friend he’s always been.

In typical Burton fashion, the movie revolves around quirky-looking characters in stop-motion animation. Voiceovers include the likes of Winona Ryder (a Burton favourite), Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, and Charlie Tahan as Victor.

I’ll admit, while this looks a bit like a child-appropriate, animated version of Edward Scissorhands, I’m still excited to see it.

Frankenweenie comes to UK theatres 5 October.
