Clinique Black Tie Violets Collection

Clinique Black Tie Violets Collection

So what beauty trend will you be embracing this Fall? Will you re-live the glory days and rock 80’s glam? Keep it natural in barley there nudes? Or step over to the dark side with deep damsons and rich plums. Clinique’s take on winter glam falls to the latter, albeit a slightly more muted version. Entitled Black Tie Violets, the spectrum ranges from an intense plum/berry to soft, light mauves.  In the new satisfyingly chunky solid silver packaging, the main star of the show has to be the Colour Surge Eye Shadow Quad, the four shades effortlessly take you from day to night. Also making an appearance in the range is the Shimmering Stripes Powder Blusher and Brush-On Cream Liner.

We asked Beth Mumm, Director of Make-up Product Development for Clinique to explain the inspiration behind the range, she said: “When developing Black Tie Violets, we found inspiration and a fresh perspective in shades of purple, a colour often thought of as regal and royal. We added a touch of glamour by incorporating rich plums and vibrant violets for a fun, flirty look but kept the shades wearable.  Many women are intimated by violet and lavender tones, but this combination of purple based colors is incredibly flattering as purple’s mix of red and blue looks good on nearly everyone.”

Our celeb make-up artist Lindsey Poole has some top tips on how to make the look wearable. Using purples on the eyes is a more current and wearable alternative to the traditional blacks and greys. Sweep the mid purple over the eyelid then smudge the Brush-On Cream liner and blend it through the waterline and into  the lashes. Apply the deep purple plum shade over this, blending upwards into the mid purple to create a dramatic smoky look.

Prices start at £12.
