Dior DiorSkin Nude Natural Glow Sculpting Powder Foundation

With so many new foundations hitting the beauty stores, and all with a different USP, even I’ve had difficulty picking out the very best. Foundations are notoriously ‘trial-and-error’; what suits one skin type won’t suit another, so while those with oily skin thank the day that matte bases were invented, those with dry skin curse their existence! Wherever possible, when picking out a new foundation, get a sample first, or at least ask the sales assistant to apply some to your face, then you can judge properly and in an outdoor light. The old ‘dab on the wrist’ just doesn’t cut it anymore, so no sample or trial, no purchase. My selection of new bases that are cutting it get an instant stamp of approval.

Easily the best looking compact foundation I’ve seen in a long time, this mineral laden formulation is perfect for those with oily skin. Despite active mineralized water particles, those with dry complexions may find it seeps into creases. Sweep the brush over all three shades to apply and then apply individual shades where needed for a sculpting effect. £36.

Although you’ll have to wait till March to get your hands on this treatment foundation, it is a great example of an anti-ageing skincare/make up hybrid. Containing anti-ageing ingredient Rhodiola and soy peptides to boost collagen, daily use can help in the battle against lines and wrinkles. In clinical trials on 51 women, 90% saw their lines and wrinkles soften. You can’t beat stats like that!
£24.

Not as new as the others, this has wandered back into my sight line because it picked up a prestigious InStyle gong in the Best Base category. For those with dry or ultra dry skin, the pliable consistency, light coverage and deeply moisturising formula, the balm is a revelation. Glycerine, Shea butter and Chamomile oil drench the complexion with moisture while giving a dewy ‘real skin’ finish.
£32.
