Dolce & Gabbana lipstick in Dahlia

Dolce & Gabbana lipstick in Dahlia

This year’s spring looks are such a mish-mash of trends that it is difficult to know what are the hits and what you can afford miss. From sweet fondants shades through to bold and shocking scarlet, anything goes. One look that I won’t be going anywhere near is lavender lips that is way too heart-attack for me, although I will be experimenting with Revlon’s lovely milky Lilac Pastelle gloss that is a bit kinder on the complexion. Stock up on my hit list essentials for a spin on every spring twist.

He-Shi Express Liquid Tan

Red Lips
This Dolce & Gabbana red lipstick in Dahlia is gorgeously wearable, although such rouge extremes are always attention grabbers, so be warned! I love the slick gold casing and the D&G logo everywhere, including on the lipstick bullet itself. £20 at Selfridges or Harrods.

Gently Tanned Skin
Hot across the seas from Ireland is He-Shi Self Tan that gives a very natural looking tan.  I like Express Liquid Tan that doesn’t seem to streak and can be built up for a higher intensity colour if necessary. Bear in mind though, that the spring look is light.  £20 at www.He-Shi.net.

Clinique High Lengths Mascara

Clinique High Lengths Mascara

Longer Than Ever Lashes
Clinique’s High Lengths Mascara has created a real beauty buzz with positive feedback from bloggers and satisfied customers. The secret is in the ‘willow’ applicator brush which coats from root to tip and you can build thickness as required. Personally, I love the long, spindly lash look without extra coats. £14.50.

And, when it comes to hair, it’s still all about loose waves, so don’t root out the straighteners just yet! Instead, add barely there ripples with fat curlers or a barrel tong for a bit more bounce.
