Now fear not. We’re not talking marching yourself to the nearest piercings and tattoo parlour to get tiny little designs inked on to your delicate finger tips. In fact, we’re firmly advising you not to do that. Ever. No, the latest nail art beauty trend involves transfers. It’s wonderfully old school actually, very nostalgic. Remember those packs of tattoo transfers you used to be able to pick up at the news agents when you were in primary school? You’d be floored by how cool it was that by simply cutting out a heart and thorn design (classy!), stamping it on your arm, dampening with water and gently peeling off, that you would be left with a perfect, tattoo-esque design. Bank in the middle of your shoulder, to the despairing sighs of your  mother.

This latest nail trend is basically that. Except that it looks good. Really good!

Ciate and Bourjois are the first brands to bring us their own range of transfers. The Ciate Cuticle Transfers (£10.00) are sold exclusively at ASOS and are the latest in their long line of on trend, cult products, joining the likes of the Caviar, Velvet and Chalk Board manicures. Designs include bows, small stars, diamonds and Aztec style triangle designs.

Bourjois have also jumped on board this particular beauty bandwagon with their own nail and cuticle tattoos. They come in two variants, the Bourjois Calligraphic Kit (£5.99), which feature more floral based designs, including leaf vines, some of which sit directly on the nail, others which extend down over the cuticle and onto the top of the fingertip. The other variety is the Bourjois Graphic Nail Tattoos (£5.99), which are more geometric and Aztec in their design.

The Bourjois range are set to launch in the middle of May, so keep your eyes out to stay ahead of the game with nail trends this season. They’re amongst this season’s festival must-haves.
