Mascarathon 2012

Benefit and national domestic violence charity Refuge have teamed up the summer for a Mascarathon - a charity run from Scotland to London. The run will start in Edinburgh with stops in Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Oxford, and wrapping up in SpitalfieldsLondon. Along the way there will be a range of consumer areas for runners and friends to visit including make-upper stations and sample giveaways.

Caroline Flack will be leading the way, running the first two miles in Edinburgh. Other celebrity runners include Donna Air and Zoe Salmon, with more to be announced closer to the time.

Every two miles ran signifies the two women’s lives that are lost each week due to domestic violence. Both Benefit and Refuge are hoping that the Mascarathon will not only help to raise awareness for the cause, but also aims to reach more women who might be suffering from domestic violence and raise funds for Refuge and the work that they do to empower women fleeing toxic domestic violence environments. Not only does Refuge support over 1,600 women and children on any given day, they provide emergency accommodation, support for women in the community and independent advocacy which provides expert guidance for women going through the legal system.

The Mascarathon will be taking place from 15th-29th June, for more information and to see how you can support the cause and get invovled go to
