Blank Canvas Cosmetics

Brushes have always frightened me, or I have frightened people when I have used them to apply blush that made me look like a clown.

It took me years to realise I should buy a separate brush to apply eye shadow and not use the one that came in the compact.

Face brushes though, that’s a different story and I’m afraid I have had to hide from them. Cream blush applied with fingers and highlighted with a different finger have been my MO.

I was intrigued when I saw this brush labelled ‘The hardest working brush from here to King Dome come.’ And I was even more  convinced when I felt its softness and took in its lovely regal purple colour.

I don’t like bristles on my face. I don’t like the thought of thinking they were once on some animal. I don’t like the idea that some brushes cost more than a trip to Paris, even if the lady selling them says: ‘These will last for life.’ They may last for some long lives, but I doubt it will be mine. Brushes, for me, follow the sunglasses rule. The more expensive they are, the faster they will depart my company. Cheap market knock-offs stay with me forever. People rush out of cafes and gyms carrying them to me if I have left them behind.

F22 HD Dome Face Brush (£11.61)

Once having just landed at LAX I was loudspeakered not to leave the arrivals hall. Why? Because somebody had found my Tom Ford rip-offs in my seat backs. The actual Tom Fords were long gone.

The F22 HD Dome Face Brush is £11.61 and is made with extra soft synthetic fibres, which work fantastically with both cream and powders. They absorb product in a way that ensures it ends up on your face and not as what looks like an overcoat of dandruff around your shoulders.

This is a big step in the right direction for me. Plus I love the feel of it on my face. It’s soft, not itchy.

Its shape means that it works for foundation, highlighting and contouring. You clean it with a wipe or a brush spray if you own such a thing. I like to wipe my face and brush with the same wipe because it’s easy, fast.

I haven’t heard about Blank Canvas cosmetics before but it is renowned for being Ireland’s leading supplier of cosmetic brushes.

Loving its work.
