Georgia May Jagger | Cara Delevingne | Carey Mulligan

There’s something about the French Riviera that seems to bring out the best in beauty (and fashion) from the A-list starlets. At this year’s Cannes Film Festival, some of the world’s most talented and beautiful pushed the beauty boundaries, offering up a visual – and inspirational feast as they walked the red carpets beneath clear skies and beside the sparkling Mediterranean Sea.

At the Great Gatsby premiere, strong mouths were the order of the evening with Georgia May Jagger and Carey Mulligan both sporting immaculately defined lips in the purest of red shades tempered by flawless and glowing skin and softly defined brows and eyes. Meanwhile Cara Delevingne matched her lips to her tips, opting for a darker shade of brick red and breaking the quintessential ‘define just one feature’ make up rule by rocking strong, bold brows, a bright vampy lip and¬†smokey eyes with total aplomb. Sometimes rules are there to be broken!

Rooney Mara | Nicole Kidman | Emma Watson

Whilst this weekend’s film festival saw its fair share of lustrous waves and fabulous blow outs (yes, we’re looking at you Cindy Crawford) we found ourselves admiring the simple yet stunning undone chignons, twisted and braided up dos and ballerina buns. At the Calvin Klein party Rooney Mara (as only she can) pulled off a severely slicked back mid-crown bun, whilst Emma Watson, at the premiere for The Bling Ring, showcased her backless dress with a side-swept chignon and side-part. Nicole Kidman, surely the Cannes chameleon, opted for this stunning care-free up-do consisting of a deconstructed braid, swept into a semi-bun and tied with a length of black ribbon.

Carey Mulligan | Audrey Tatou | Marine Vacth

It wasn’t all vampy bold lips and carefully coifed hair styles as Carey Mulligan, Audrey Tatou and Marine Vacth proved, hitting the red carpet in the most barely-there beauty looks. Showcasing flawless, poreless complexions and almost-undetectable make up, Carey Mulligan lined the upper lash with a hint of liner and mascara and a subtle flush of rosebud colour on her lips. Audrey, ever the elfin beauty, matched her carefree tousled crop with a soft grey eyeshadow, enhanced lip and cheeky smile. Marine Vacth, a classic beauty, looked healthy and glowing, with barely a scrap of colour and just a healthy, sun-touched glow.
