Salma Hayek, too, chose an underwhelming beige dress. Hers was Gucci Première, and the only thing that even came close to saving the look was her gorgeous retro hairstyle: smooth side-swept curls a la the old Hollywood theme. The dress’s elegant vertical pleats provide texture and movement, but combined with the drab color and crinkly overlaid embellishments, the whole thing is just a bit unimpressive… We’re just glad she didn’t opt for a red Gucci leather number again…
Fan Bing Bing also stood out the most among the glamorous crowd, as she chose a modern dress shape with a traditional red Chinese bird pattern. The look was decidedly dramatic, but Bing always goes for over-the-top red carpet looks. Even her hair and makeup are striking and unexpected – her sleek black hair is styled into some sort of impossible giant pouf, and a daring red lip matches her bright dress.
Confusing and over-the-top as always, Lady Gaga performed her hit “Judas” at Cannes for the French talk show Le Grand Journal and donned a strange matador-esque ensemble. Comprised of a sheer black bodysuit, black tights, decorative gold embroidery, and some sort of red chiffon cape, Gaga’s Spanish-themed outfit was a perplexing choice for the French setting. To top off the crazy fashion, Gaga’s long bleached-blond hair was fringed with harsh black bangs, and her scary black makeup resembled that of Natalie Portman’s during her black-swan phase of Black Swan (minus the red eyes, of course). Needless to say, Lady Gaga has done it once again – attracted our attention, caused confusion, and pushed the boundaries of fashion even further.
10 days full of fashion left!
