Ok a different look is required for so many parties, so we turned to our expert Mellissa Brown to give us some handy hints on keeping our shiny party hair up to date.

Big Loose Curls
As always, waves are big this season.  As we saw at Chloe, the Marcel wave is big news and perfect for a new Christmas party look.  This is not the easiest look to achieve yourself, but once you’ve grasped it, you’ll be glad you tried!  Start by prepping with a good mousse, then dry your hair as usual.  Use medium sized tongs and tong the hair in barrel curls.  Then pin each one in place and leave for around 20 minutes until cool.  Using a soft bristle brush, brush through the waves and style with a parting, finishing with shine and hold spray to keep the look in place.

Eighties are back
If you’re wearing shorter hair, the Robert Palmer look is a must.  Start with putting in a side parting or no parting, whatever look suits you best.  Then using gel or a soft wax, section by section cover the hair and then style as usual.  Some great earrings will glam the look up.

It’s all about the fascinator! Beautiful head bands were seen on the catwalk this season, so why not customise your own.  Buy a plain head band, some beads and sparkly stones and create your own.  Give yourself a beautiful blow dry with lots of volume and add on the hair band to finish the look.

Top tips
Make sure you care for your hair in between styling – my current favourite is the Head & Shoulders Hydrating Smooth & Silky because it’s really moisturising for the hair and leaves it looking smooth and shiny.

Always carry some dry shampoo in your bag Batiste do a small pocket size – it’s a must for the party season.
