Globally renowned for their quality finish, creamy textures, trend-led colours and fun, whimsical polish names, Essie are the go-to varnishes for a perfect, long-lasting and hi-shine manicure. Brand of choice in nail salons worldwide and backstage at the catwalk shows, they’re also the world-leader in creating immaculate, nude nail shades (ask any bride and she’ll tell you all about the Adore-A-Ball/ Angel Food/ Ballet Slippers dilemma). And despite the recent vogue for all manner of shimmering, glittering, creative nail art, Essie has resisted jumping on the bandwagon. Until now.

Essie Sleek Stick Nail Wraps

The first steps were taken when it introduced a new shimmering, Luxeffect texture to polishes, and then this season (autumn/ winter 2012) Essie introduced glitter polishes into their collection with Leading Lady, a Dorothy’s slippers deep shimmering red and Beyond Cozy a luxurious mix of gold and silver flakes. Now the brand have jumped into the nail art arena in full-force and launched its own line of ‘Sleek Stick’ nail wraps.

Essie LuxEffects

At present there are 12 designs inspired by the textures seen on the catwalks of New York and Milan. available in the U.S.

Retaining the quality and style that Essie has become synonymous with, the nail wraps are a very welcome addition to a brand that continues to go from strength to strength. But do you think Essie made the right decision taking on the world of nail art? Or do you think the brand, a classic loved by cutting-edge designers and groomed grandmas alike should have stuck to the formula that made it so successful?
