Which bold look will you go for?

Which bold look will you go for?

It’s the BATD office party tonight (hence our Daily Crave today!) and we’re deliberating the makeup looks we’ll be going to go for; full on smoky eyes or just a simple bold lip?

Smoky eyes are not for everyone as they can appear to be far more scary and unobtainable than a simple bold lip (if you’d like an easy smoky eye tutorial see the video below from the lovely Kay Montano for Because Magazine) so we thought we’d show you some of our favourite bold lip colours and techniques if you’re in need of inspiration for some last minute makeup looks for the festive season (FYI also awesome for New Year’s… unless you’re planning to get that kiss at midnight).

Bold Lips

Our favourite bold colours (for the festive season or not) are wide ranging as it really does depend on how brave you are and what your skin tone is. As a general rule however, we love a berry lip, tangerine is always good for a twist, pop pink is great for most skintones and hair colours and ruby red lips are a staple.

Our favourite products for each?

Our favourite lippies for berry, tangerine, pop pink and ruby red

Berry – Lancome L’Absolu Rouge in 131 Pense á Moi

This is the glossiest, longest lasting berry shade we’ve come across. You don’t need a gloss but definitely make sure you define and fix with a lip pencil base.

£21, www.lancome.co.uk

Tangerine Sisley Hydrating Long Lasting Lipstick in Tangerine.

It’s pricy but I’ve yet to find an orange lipstick that matches this fresh shade and lasting formula.

£31, www.houseoffraser.co.uk

Pop Pink – We love the texture of the Rouge Allure Velvet lipsticks. The pigments are fabulous and gives a texture that’s as described on the tin – velvety. It’s perfect for that luxurious looking pout that’s going to be so popular next season. Leave the gloss at home and give this a go. Makeup artist Lisa Eldridge did a fab little demo of our favourite pink shade, L’exuberante which you can view below.

£23.50, www.selfridges.com

Ruby Red – You can’t go wrong for red lippy that heading to a MAC counter and asking the makeup artists there to help you match a shade to your skintone and preference. You’ll be in and out in 20 mins and leave with a tailored shade for you.
