Fresh-faced California is what I think when I see Kristen here (pictured in a Hervé Léger by Max Azria chevron illusion mini dress from the Spring 2010 collection at the 2010 Academy of Country Music Awards). So, whilst we may not be able to help with the petite and tanned part, we definitely can help you find out how to recreate her hair and makeup.

The best thing to do here is start with the hair as you’ll need to pop it in rollers for some volume, so by doing it first, the style will set whilst you do you face later!

Wash your hair and pop some mousse in the roots. Blow-dry it upside down thoroughly and pop some velcro rollers in (M&S do a great travel kit). Put a line of large ones down the centre of your head and then some smaller one’s at an angle of either side. If you put them in straight away, your hair cools around the rollers so will hold for longer. Now just leave them in whilst you do your makeup.

You’ll want flawless dewy skin for this look so I’d recommend using an oil-free foundation with good coverage such as Bobbi Brown’s Natural Finish Long Lasting Foundation SPF15 (£28). Hide all your blemishes and dark circles using a liquid concealer such as Clinique’s Airbrush Concealer (£19) and make sure everything is all blended in thoroughly.

Once you’ve done you base, take a matt bronzer (such as Benefit’s Hoola - £23.50) and dust an even layer over your face. Watch out here as Hoola can go on unevenly so make sure you tap the excess off your brush. Contour your cheekbone by shading under them with a heavy layer of bronzer and finish it off with a coral blush over the apple of your cheeks (the myface.cosmetics blusher in Holiday is a good tone for this).

Now to the eyes! Kristen’s look is simple yet sultry. The easiest way to do this is take a silver shimmer base over the lid and darken out the outer corners with a black shadow. Take the shadow under the eye slightly and finally blend it all together with the silver tone and the shadow’s done! If you’d rather not use a black shadow, you can draw the shade on with a pencil and take a brush to the line, smudging it in where appropriate.

Finally, get yourself some fake lashes with extra long edges, cut them to size, apply the glue and wait for it to get tacky. Once tacky, look down and hold them in place. Once you’ve held it there for a bit, release it and adjust it into their final position.

Once your makeup’s all done, spray your hair with a firm hairspray (you can’t go wrong with Elnett), leave to dry and take the rollers out. Give your hair a shake and let it settle for a few minutes. The result should be wonderfully sleek and volumised hair without the poof!

Kristen’s new film, When In Rome, is out in cinemas on 25th June.
