Cate Blanchett - Get The Look

The silver/charcoal smoky eye is a great palette for blondes with blue eyes. Cate hasn’t gone overboard with the darker shades for this look, only focusing the shade at the outer corners. Take a nice charcoal shadow and dab it onto the lid, taking it slightly under the eye on the outer corner.

Next take a high pigment silver shadow and fill in the rest of the lid, highlighting the inner corners with the same product. Get yourself a soft kohl eye pencil and blend in a line across your lash line, smudging it with a fine brush to soften the look. You can add to the effect by putting the liner on the inner eye line too if you want a more dramatic look.

Clinique High Impact Mascara

Lastly pop on some intense black mascara (like Clinique’s High Impact Mascara) and finish it off by taking a highlighting powder into the brow bone and blending the eye colour into the lid.

By creating the smoky look, a neutral lip is a nice touch if you’ve bronzed you skin (a red lip would look nice with flawless skin and a touch of blush). Cate’s gone for a matte rosy nude here which looks great with her skin tone and doesn’t wash her out or make her look sallow.  I’d steer clear of dehydrating lipsticks for this look as they can often make the matte formula accumulate in the creases of your lips.

I’d recommend a coloured balm for this, especially if your lips are prone to dryness. One of my favourites is the Yes TO Carrots ‘C Me Blush Lip Tint’ in Sunset Blush. It gives a lovely rosy colour and tastes minty fresh!

Robin Hood is available on Blu-ray and DVD on 20 September from Universal UK.
