Emma Watson has certainly come a long way since her first appearance on the big screen as Hermione Granger. In fact the Harry Potter starlet is fast becoming somewhat of a style icon, her recent shots for the new Burberry campaign have certainly seen her fashion credibility quadruple, along with Burberry’s profits. Her smouldering looks in the recent shots would probably get even Harry Potter’s pulse racing, so we asked celeb make-up artist Lizzie Court how to recreate Emma’s sultry smoky eye look in ten easy steps. Notepads at the ready ladies…

1. Start with your base which should be a matte coverage, apply using a damp sponge or foundation brush. Try Bobbi’s Brown’s Oil Free Finish Foundation SPF 15 for weightless even coverage.

2. Next, set using a loose sheer powder, apply this using a large powder brush or ‘roll’ on to the skin with a velour powder puff. Try Lancôme’s Mat Finish Libre for a natural finish.

3. The eyebrows have been shaped and darkened here for a very 60’s feel. Use a little bit of brown eyeshadow applied with a short stiff brush to shape and fill the brows.

4. For the eyes, start by applying a matte taupe colour over the eyelid, try Bobbi Brown’s Eye Shadow in Taupe. Blend the colour up to the socket line and soften all edges with a clean brush or cotton bud.

5. Apply liquid liner to the top and under the eyes, make sure you take this right to the lashes to avoid any gaps. Try The Body Shop’s Liquid Eyeliner, £8.30.

6. Smudge a dark black/ grey colour eyeshadow over the eyeliner and blend with a clean brush to give a smoky look, check out MAC for a good selection of greys and black eyeshadows.

7. Curl lashes and apply 3 coats of black thickening and lengthening mascara, to the top and bottom. Try Max Factor Masterpiece in black.

8. Finish with a little white kohl eyeliner in the inside edge of the eye.

9. Minimal blusher is used here so not to detract from the eyes, for a barely there look take a huge blusher brush and sweep the apple of your cheeks with a pale pink powder. Try Soft Touch Blush from Becca, £23.00

10. Use a pale natural lip colour to shape the lips and fill with a natural matte colour.  This should be a couple of tones lighter than your own natural colour and avoid lipsticks that have a yellow undertone, stick to something with a hint of pink to prevent yourself from looking ill. Try Revlon’s Matte Lipstick in Nude Attitude. Finish by patting the lips down with a blot of tissue to give a matte stain effect.
