Givenchy Christmas 2013

Givenchy Christmas 2013

Givenchy can always be relied upon to provide something totally unique just when we’re on the look out for it, whether it’s the one-width wedged leather boot of last year or the half Bambi print sweater that the likes of Lily Collins and Ciara are sporting this season. They don’t hold back when it comes to their cosmetics line either, and this Christmas is no exception. This year Givenchy have the midas touch with a host of golden delights set to light up cosmetic stands across the country. A highly pigmented metallic gold nail varnish is complimented by an equally vibrant red shade, evocative of Parisian elegance and romance. The new hazy pink blushed lip colours, Le Rouge in Le Précieux and Le Violin Précieux (£24.00) allow for softness and subtlety, and are encased in a wonderfully opulent gold printed case.

The real stars (quite literally) of Givenchy’s latest cosmetics collection, however, are the eye colours and tools. When Givenchy signed Amanda Seyfried as their latest beauty ambassador this year, they quite possibly had this collection in mind. No one does sultry and smouldering eyes quite like Amanda, and her go-to red carpet look can be achieved to great effect with the Givenchy Christmas 2013 additions. The Ondulations D’Or (£38.50) is undoubtedly the must-have product of the new collection. The embossed star, a Givenchy emblem, singles it out as a stand-out piece.

The black and gold tones mingle as beautifully on the eye as they do in the palette. Blend the two for a deep, dense bronze sheen and use as a base over the upper lid of the eye and to lightly line the lower lash line. Next use the gold alone and concentrate it on and around the inner corner of the eye, before blending inwards to just under halfway cross the lower section of the upper lid. Finish by slightly wetting a smaller liner brush and using it to apply the black shade along the lower lash line and the outer section of the upper lash line to really accentuate eyes and dazzle.

Lightly apply a black mascara to lashes before reaching for the new Limited Edition Phemomen’Eyes that, again, fuses gold with black to provide a mascara with a deep bronze shimmer that warms and highlights eye colour. Apply over the black mascara, taking particular care over the lower lashes, to add another dimension to the final look.

If you’re really looking to create impact then Givenchy, predictably, have just the thing. Lash Sparkles (£19.00) is an easy-to-apply glitter for lashes. Twinkling gold glitter pieces sit together in a trasparent non-sticky gel. A light application will enhance your eyes in a way that onlookers just won’t be able to put their finger on, and if you want to make a statement, build it up the concentration of glitter and glimmer the night away.
