Global Lust by Chrissy Iley

I’ve walked around with dark panda eyes for several weeks now. Every stress, every jet lag sleepless night etched in dark circles of doom on my face.

Who was that make-up artist who told me that concealer had to be two shades lighter than foundation? She ensured that the only other look to the panda was the polo, the Polo Mint – white circles like giant puffy lifebelts were the only alternative.

A panda or a polar bear!

There are about 20 concealers lurking in my cupboards that fall in to various categories of wrong. Mostly because they are a pasty colour and the whiteness only seemed to make my eyes look puffy.

Most of them were thick and pasty. They covered the darkness but I looked like I was about to take the stage in Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?

Others that were a decent texture went on so thinly that there was almost no point in them. I’d decided that I was just tired and until I got a decent night’s sleep I would have to remain tired.

I went to Liberty’s this weekend to spend a Liberty voucher of £25. I thought I would pick up a Trish McEvoy volumising mascara or a lipstick.

The make-up artist at the counter clearly noticed my panda problem and said rather urgently that she could help me.

A wand of Trish McEvoy Flawless Concealer was presented. It went on like a layer of chiffon but its pigment was all covering and everlasting. How could something so light be so powerful? The shade was perfect, the texture incredible and it did its job like a miracle.

I was so impressed with it I forgot that I had a voucher and left with it still in my bag but not looking like a panda.
