So you might have notice that we’ve quite a penchant for all things beauty here at BATD HQ… so we were happy to see that the lovely Zooey Deschanel got it spot on in the beauty stakes at yesterday’s Golden Globe Awards. You can’t get much cuter that porcelain skin, baby doll eyes and some seriously volumised hair!
Her makeup artist’s inspiration? Well according to Hello Giggles it’s: “How would Emma Peel (from the1960’s British TV show The Avengers) do her makeup if she was going to be attending the Golden Globes?”
If you want to achieve her look, it’s simple!
Skin: Take a medium coverage foundation or tinted moisturiser such as MyFace.cosmetics My Mix or Bobbi Brown Oil-Free Tinted Moisturiser. Apply sparingly to your face, starting from your nose and brushing or dabbing it outwards towards your hairline. After you’ve got you base, take a rosy blush such as MAC Mineralize blush in Dainty and lightly dust it over the apple of your cheeks.
Eyes: It’s all about the 60’s flick here with some serious lash power. The best way to achieve this is with a felt-tip liquid eyeliner and we love Bourjois Smokey Liner Feutre Ultra Black. Simply wink, pull you lid outwards to tighten the skin and gently whisk the tip across your lid. Once you’ve reached the edge of your lid, look down and use your lash line to continue the line upwards away from your eye. This will give you the perfect flick. If you want to use false eyelashes, do this step after you’ve applied them. If not, apply lashings of volumising mascara such L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes and finish off the look with a smudge of black kohl under the lower lash line.
Hair: It’s all about the volume here and the best way to achieve this is with a big ol’ round brush and some great mousse. On towel dried hair, lightly massage L‘Oréal Professionnel Tecni Art Volume Riche Mousse in the roots (this stuff is seriously good). Then take a big round bristle brush like Goody Touch of Style Hot Round hairstyling brush (only £6.12), section your hair and start blow-drying your hair around the brush. For volume make sure you really pull the hair on the crown of your head towards the ceiling, this way your roots will dry with a bit of lift. Then take your front sections and dry them as you roll the brush under your hair in front of your face, as the brush comes out of your hair, pull it to the side that your parting falls on and you’ll get lift at the roots as well as making your hair settle on the right side. Finally dust over with some firm hold hair spray and lightly brush it out to stop the crispy feeling (we love L’Oreal Elnett Satin Supreme Hold Mini Hairspray as it’s great to pop in your clutch to control those flyaways)
