Head & Shoulders

Head & Shoulders

Meeting up with the talented team behind Head & Shoulders was an eye-opening experience as we don’t often like to talk about dandruff let alone get excited about a product that has been hidden in the bathroom cabinet due to its embarrassing connotations about your personal hygiene (which is completely untrue BTW).

First surprise of the evening is that Head & Shoulders is the number one selling hair product in the UK and in fact globally – which is no mean feat. Second surprise? That they’ve been around 50 years (I thought they were a development of the ’70s like maxi-dresses and fondue) and that the very lovely Peter Lux, session-stylist par excellence, is the Head & Shoulders Creative Director (check out the photos from the event here, where his beautifully coiffed self demoed some styling tips for us). Aside from facts that had us all a twitter we also found that, wait for it, Head & Shoulders isn’t just for dandruff sufferers.

No, it is in fact a really gentle formula shampoo that is preventative as well as curative and the brand has gone the extra mile to make us want to make it a regular purchase. The bottle has been refined and the range of scents are well, pretty heavenly. There are 11 in the UK so try them out- you won’t be disappointed.

If you do have dandruff (and let’s face it who hasn’t had at some point) then it’s not enough just to use the shampoo – the Head & Shoulders conditioners have been specially formulated so they won’t wash off the ingredients that have been deposited by the shampoo to get rid of the flakes. So it’s a double whammy for dandruff that won’t stand a chance against this baby.

It contains parabens but has been given the stamp of approval from The British Skin Foundation which adds impressively to it’s credentials. So if you want a flake-free Summer you should get the bottle out from the back of the cupboard and display it with pride – it says so much more than just ‘dandruff’.
