Hot In The City

City living is no joke in the heat. Over the past few weeks we’ve seen temperatures topping 30 degrees and there is no doubt that there’s more to come – lovely if you’re relaxing by the beach, but sticky to say the least if not. I keep a stash of cooling beauty essentials in the Beauty & The Dirt fridge (along with the 6 month supply of Haagen Daz, of course) to bring a welcome chill to hot complexions.

Using thermal spa water spiced up with skin loving vitamins, antioxidants and minerals, this Norwegian water is perfect for hot and dehydrated skin. It’s good for an immediate cooler if kept in the fridge, but longer term promises to moisturise and replenish your skin. And, vitally, you can use it over your make up for a dewy look. It’s available in two versions: Organic White Tea, £19.50 (good for city skin thanks to antioxidants) and a Pure version, £18.

Organic peppermint leaves make this the reason a queue forms at the fridge! It’s a complete boost for the senses as well as the skin and is ideal for oily complexions that suffer in the heat. The aroma is an instant energy fix while the peppermint content soothes hot skin leaving it feeling freshened and vital. Peppermint Toning Water, £18.

This is a cooling gel for hot feet – and ideal for mine when I’ve been pounding the Bond Street pavements! It has a kick of menthol in it that vaguely reminds me of Vick, but there is definitely a cooling element that is very refreshing. I use it on my feet and lower legs and the cool sensation lasts a good while to give a welcome refresher in the heat.
