Kay Montano: Red Head 101

After my ‘What I’m Wearing’ yesterday, I thought I’d find out exactly what I SHOULD be wearing from a professional and managed to track down the fabulous makeup artist, Kay Montano, for a few fail-safe pointers to stay on the straight and narrow when it comes to choosing makeup for my new red hair.
So here you go, a red hair/ pale skin makeup 101 from Kay Montano herself:
I’d say it’s incredibly important to use makeup to counteract the potentially ‘washed-out‘ effect of dyed hair. Concealer, blusher and mascara are essential to creating a healthy look as unnaturally coloured hair accentuates pallor, blemishes and all the rest.
I LOVE the new Tom Ford blush in FLUSH. It’s a perfect coral Rose and I am using it on everyone and myself at the moment-seems to suit everyone!

Tom Ford blush in Flush, MyMix Foundation, Japonesque curlers and Topshop's gret range of bold lippys
MyMix foundation by MyFace Cosmetics is another wonder product for a healthy looking complexion and has rescued my morning face on many occasions not to mention the many exhausted faces I work on. It is dewy-looking with good coverage.
Shu Uemura (£20) or Japonesque (£9.50) eyelash curlers are another rescue remedy, turning lazy eyes into perky peepers with black mascara as the ONLY one to use.
Best to keep make-up to a minimum but I do love a red lip on redheads & there are some amazing ones around right now; from velvet finish to luscious moisture-rich varieties and the pigments have never been stronger.
Nars, Estee Lauder, Chanel and Top Shop are my favourites right now.

Right…. I’m off to find me a velvetine lippy. Thanks Kay!
