Chanel has officially announced that Keira Knightley wore Chanel Beauté at the worldwide premiere of Anna Karenina in London on September 4th. Her look was created by the renown professional makeup artist Lisa Eldridge, who has worked with many of the worlds top A-list celebrities, models, magazines and brands.
Eldridge’s Inspiration:
”To compliment Keira’s beautiful Chanel dress, I wanted to create a soft, pale and pretty makeup that had a romantic feel but was careful to add strength around the eyes so the overall look wasn’t washed out against the dress. Above all, the makeup needed to be elegant and flatter Keira’s naturally beautiful face.”
Here’s how to achieve Kiera Knightley’s premiere look:
Start with a flawless base using Perfection Lumière Foundation in 10 Beige applied with a brush and buffed into the skin. Also apply the concealers Éclat Lumière in 20 Beige Clair and Lift Lumière Concealer in 10 Beige around the eyes and on the high points of the face to highlight. After a light dusting of Poudre Universelle Libre in 20 Clair.
For the Keira’s demure smoky eyes, begin with a perfect liquid line along the upper lashes using Ecriture De Chanel in Noir. Softened this using the powder shadow Ombre Essentielle in Ebony. At the outer corner lift and elongate the liner into a small kitten flick. Then washing a mixture of Ombres Contraste Duo in Gris–Subtil across the eyelid, mix it until it is a very soft shimmery silver/grey. To finish off the pale pink of Ombre Essentielle in Liberty is added at the socket line to blend and soften.
Underneath the lower lashes use the Duo again, to add some soft, smoky definition. A blush of the shimmery pink Liberty at the inner corner and Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Ebene along the lower waterline to complete the eye look. Then add lots of Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir and a few individual lashes at the outer edge of the upper lashes for a full and unforgettable finish.
Lightly powder brows using Le Sourcil De Chanel in Brun for a soft effect, and for cheeks dust Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Rose Initiale on the apples of the cheeks for a fresh flush of colour.
To achieve Knightley’s soft pink pout, shape lips with Le Crayon Lévres in Natural, and then add the beautifully elegant lipstick Rouge Allure in Evanescente to finish off the look to perfection.

similar problem aiesrs when everyone isn’t on the same page about what British accent means. I saw a play with a mixed British-American cast a few years back where one of the British actors made the choice to give his Czech character a very contemporary, suburban London-type accent during the scenes set in Czechoslovakia. This contrasted quite a bit with his American scene partners, who spoke with much plummier, neutral accents.@Josh,This sounds very subjective (it IS very subjective), but I find Tolstoy uniquely odd spoken when dramatized with Russian accents. Chekhov too, come to think of it. Something about the modernity of those writers prevents me from seeing their characters as specifically Russian, even though they are obviously a product of their place and time.
