Millions of women throughout the world wear make-up, but few of them have been taught how to apply it.’ This is what inspired make-up artist Jemma Kidd’s vision for her make-up school and product line.

We caught up with Jemma to root around her make-up bag and get a few quick fix tips on going from work to wow in 10 minutes. She also gives us a few tips on vamping up your look in time for autumn/winter.

You started your career as a fashion model, what prompted your switch to make-up?
I always found backstage much more fascinating than walking down the catwalk, and I loved watching the make-up artists at work. I decided that I wanted to give it a go myself, and there my make-up career began….

What’s your hero product at Jemma Kidd and the ultimate must try for anyone new to the brand?
My Jemma Kidd Make Up Skin Rescue Bio Complex Veil. It is a primer, illuminator, hydrator and tint in one, so perfect for giving skin a fresh, healthy glow, to even out the skin tone and moisturising, without needing to use several different products.

Who or what inspires you?
Lots of different things; nature, women I meet who come to the school for a make-up lesson, new trends/colours on the catwalk…

Michelle Obama, Cate Blanchett and Diane Kruger.

Tell us what’s in your own make-up bag?
Skin Rescue Bio Complex Veil &  Dior Blackout Mascara.

We all want to obtain that flawless finish when applying make-up any tips on avoiding that caked on look?
Apply make-up to well hydrated and moisturised skin.
Begin by applying foundation and concealer a little at a time and blending well – this will stop you putting on too much and overloading the skin.
