We caught up with  Bobbi Brown’s Head of Artistry Paul Herrington to find out more from the man behind the make-up. Paul fills us in on how he started in the industry and his top tips for summer beauty.

How did you get started in the industry?
I trained in hair and make-up in the West Midlands and started my professional career as a hairdresser before moving on to just make-up.

How did you get involved with Bobbi Brown?
I was working as a beauty director at a London department store when I was asked to come join Bobbi Brown.

We know you are Head of Artistry for Bobbi Brown, what does this entail?
As Head of Artistry I am trained by Bobbi and bring all of that information back to the UK.  I work very closely with press and write pieces for the beauty pages, and do interviews and presentations which are media based such as TV and Radio. I also go to stores throughout the UK and Ireland for personal appearances, meeting and working with our Bobbi customers.  Another aspect of my role is to do make-up for our celebrity clientele for various Red Carpet events.

Describe a typical working day in your life
Difficult to say as no 2 days are the same.  I may be giving demonstrations at a press launch for the new collections or giving quotes for magazine beauty articles.  If I am doing a store appearance I will meet anything up to 40 or 50 customers and choose colours for them and show them tips and techniques with the make-up collections.

How much creative input do you have when it comes to working with the new colours and putting looks together for the Bobbi Brown collections?
When I am in New York with the global team we get to see many prototypes of product and we will discuss ideas for product development.
