Last week we had the opportunity to sit down with Jean-Christophe Samyn, the UK manager of the famous French skincare brand Caudalie. Tucked inside the cozy Covent Garden Hotel, Samyn showed us some of the newest Caudalie products as well as explained the rich history of the brand.

As you may know, Caudalie began in 1993 based on the healthy skin benefits of grape seeds. The polyphenols in the seeds are packed with antioxidants, and this simple idea has developed into one of the biggest names in skincare. By using highly sophisticated science, Caudalie has created some truly fabulous products – without sacrificing natural ingredients.

“We took out all the ‘nasties,’ so our products are almost completely natural,” Samyn said. “But it can’t be 100% natural. For effective results, especially in anti-aging, you need the science.”

Enter: Caudalie’s new range of Vinoperfect face treatments, which use enzymes and glycolic acids to bring out the natural radiance hiding under every complexion.

Samyn showed us 3 of the Vinoperfect products: Fluid Perfection Éclat (Day Perfecting Fluid), a gentle Cell Renewal Night Cream, and an Enzymatic Peel Mask. The Fluid Perfection Éclat uses some of the latest scientific advances: in a clinical trial, this fluid was found to be 62 times more effective than Vitamin C in improving skin’s luminosity (Vitamin C has been a leading radiance-boosting ingredient for some time now). The fluid works to brighten the skin, smooth its texture, and improve skin tone by reducing dark spots with papaya enzymes. This is a product that can be used at any age on any skin type – it’s truly a versatile, use-it-forever cream.

The night cream is also a bit revolutionary for the skincare field – papaya enzymes one again work to improve skin tone, while the addition of amazingly gentle glycolic acids (which are usually too harsh for sensitive skin) increase cell renewal and fade dark spots.

The facemask is equally brilliant; used once a week before bed, papaya enzymes, glycolic acids, and Viniferine gently exfoliate the skin to bring out radiance while grape-seed oils and pro-Vitamin B5 nourish and sooth the skin.
