We’re already heading to the end of New York Fashion Week, and if there’s one look to declare as the spring look, it’s the bright and glowy fresh face. Of course this makes perfect sense with the season and is not unpredictable to say the least, but we couldn’t help but find the looks quite refreshing and, for lack of a better phrase, just plain pretty!

Marc Jacobs sent models down the runway with peach-kissed cheeks and dewy, plump, pink lips. The models at Tommy Hilfiger were wearing nearly the same look, but the lips were a bit more glossy and a little more nude than pink. At BCBG Max Azria, the models looked as if they weren’t wearing any makeup at all, but they still had a rosy glow to their flawless skin.

Even at the shows where the makeup was a bit more apparent, makeup artists were still able to retain that fresh look with a pop of color. At Jenny Packham we saw scarlet lips paired with peach-coloured blush applied directly below the cheekbones for a gorgeous wash of colour. The eyes had a teeny bit of black liner to them and were highlighted with champagne-coloured shimmer. Betsey Johnson’s show was all about a rock n’ roll attitude, so models strutted their stuff with neon pink bubblegum lips and baby blue rimmed eyes with false lashes, a thick stripe of black liner along the top lashline, and loads of black mascara. Warning to all those wallflowers out there: do not try this look at home because it’s sure to draw lots of attention.

Donna Karan went a different route, using makeup pro Charlotte Tilbury to create a deep stained-lip for the models as they were sent down the runway. The blood stained lips so dark they looked almost brown as Charlotte used the M·A·C Pro Full Chocolate and Most Mocha Lipsticks — mixed together and applied to the lips with 231 Small Shader Brush. The eyes were kept bare and the only other flash of colour was along the cheeks, which were swept with a contour colour in an almost fleshy, sepia tone.

We’re excited about next season so much we almost want to skip this one. Bring on the season of sun again!
