We inadvertently find ourselves humming their catchy feel-good pop and swear that we’d be immune to the advances of lothario Harry, and yet, as much as we try to steer clear of boy band One Direction as they take over the world, when it comes to their attempts to take over the fragrance world, it seems we’re just as weak-in-the-knees as all those millions of squealing, adoring fans. Or at least we were at the Gherkin, in London last night, when we came face to face with the boys as they promoted their first every fragrance, Our Moment.
Having been in development for almost a year, the fragrance was revealed as a super-girly pale pink bottle with glittering bedazzled crown lid and a fancy tulle touch, set in a box covered in the boys’ (Niall, Zayn, Louis, Liam and Harry) pretty as a picture faces.
And the scent itself? Well, the story goes that the One Direction boys picked their favourite scents and together produced this ‘vibrant and playful fruit floral.’ A combination of pink grapefruit, wild berries, freesia, redcurrants, jasmine, patchouli and musk, it’s super sweet, and ever-so-fruity.
Lover-boy Harry said of the fragrance-creating experience, “It’s been a long and exciting process, and we’re really proud to have made a One Direction fragrance,” with Liam adding, “We love the idea behind a fragrance as you mix individual scents to create something so much better!”.
And there it is girls, a swoon-worthy scent or will you be sticking with your classic Chanel? Either way, the Our Moment fragrance is expected to reach sales targets of approximately $120 million in the launch year alone – now that is swoon worthy!
