American actress Amanda Peet has quite a diverse resume, appearing in film, television and stage productions. Her most recent film is Please Give, which premiered at Sundance and opens in cinemas this week.
Amanda was born in New York City in 1972. She graduated with a history degree from Columbia University, before pursuing acting. Amanda’s first acting job was in a commercial for Skittles candies. She continued to appear in small Indie films, but her big break came in 2000′s The Whole Nine Yards with Matthew Perry and Bruce Willis. That year she was voted one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World by “People” Magazine. Since then she’s been in a number of successful films including Something’s Gotta Give, A Lot Like Love, Syriana and 2012.  Peet also starred in the short lived series Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip.  Her next project is starring in the film adaptation of the classic novel Gulliver’s Travels, with Jack Black and Emily Blunt.
Amanda has been married to screenwriter David Benioff, since 2006. The couple have two daughters, Frances Pen and Molly June. In 2008, Peet became a spokeswoman for Every Child By Two (ECBT), a non-profit organization that advocates childhood vaccination. She claims she took up the cause due to the “amount of misinformation floating around [about vaccines], particularly in Hollywood.”

In Please Give, Peet plays Mary, one of the two daughters of an elderly woman who is standing between a married couple and their dream apartment. The flick opens 16 June.
