Neville Hair and Beauty

Neville Hair and Beauty

By Emma Skipper

As party season looms, all I can think of is how truly – and depressingly – unprepared for it I am. Facials, waxing, mani/pedis… they all need doing, but fitting it into our busy office schedule is hard to say the least. It’s for this reason I jumped at the chance to head down to Neville Hair & Beauty on Pont Street, Knightsbridge for a colour, quick trim and blowdry.

Neville is a bit of a celebrity haunt I’m told (I’m pretty sure I was actually sitting someone that frequents a list somewhere in the mid-tiers of the alphabet) and rightly so as the service I got during my visit was top notch.

Drew Barrymore's Ombre hair style

I visited on a Saturday morning and the salon was buzzing! There were stylists and customers everywhere and I was quickly swept downstairs to the colouring stations whereby I had my consultation with the amazing Sheniz (who’s on speed dial to Denis van Outen no less). She quickly put right my – slightly optimistic – hopes that the Ombre style that’s in trend in the moment would suit me, apparently my hair’s naturally blonde and should stay that way. After rightly steering me away from what would have been a disaster (I’m no Drew Barrymore) she gave me a full head of ultra fine highlights in three tones; light blonde, medium blonde and a lovely natural sandy blonde that really lifted the colour.

It was really refreshing to be able to talk hair with Sheniz rather than chat about my life story (although we did have a heated debate about X Factor of course) and she had some really great tips and views on the different techniques that I’d sampled before. Shatush for example (the process of back-brushing your hair and brushing dye on for a natural look) is particularly useful for the Ombre style apparently. We also chatted Brazilian Blowouts (the permanent blowdry) as she had hers done in the salon and LOVED it, although she did say the results for fine hair were negotiable.

Having had my colour done I was escorted upstairs where I was sat down with one of the lovely stylists to have a quick trim and blowdry (I was actually only in for a blowdry but she was really kind and offered me a snip to make sure my hair looked the best it could). I can honestly say that it was one of the best blowdrys I’ve ever had, my colour looked fantastic and the style was luxurious, voluminous and most importantly, in a style I actually liked (which can often be an issue at the of most of my hair appointments!).

I would thoroughly recommend heading down to Neville. It’s not the place if you’re looking for pure relaxation as it’s usually very busy, however if you want a super efficient and luxurious treatment with some fantastic colour technicians and stylists, then this is the place for you.

You can also get beauty treatments from Fere Beauty and have reflexology with Pierpaolo Lai which is apparently amazing.

Half head of highlights from £140

Cut and Blowdry from £60 with a stylist
