I’m not a City person and find it a very strange place. However one thing it does have is some amazing food! So, every now and then, I’ll venture into the big smoke and hang out with the suits for a bit.

On my last trip, I went to The Anthologist on Gresham Street EC2. It’s a huge good-looking space with a modern brassiere for eating and clean long bar with shared tables for some serious drinking.  It caters for all occasions; from a quick take out, to breakfast, lunch, dinner and a solid drink (as they serve cocktails and most other things till the early hours). It’s very relaxed and the kind of place you can hang out for ages.

The food is great for a quick bite to eat with loads of sandwiches, burgers and salads, plus there are some interesting sharing plates. They have a wicked cheese selection from Neal’s Yard and the lovely staff know a thing or two about wine so will point you in the right direction. I can highly recommend the Argentinean Obea Prima Rose; think rose meets red, delicious and great with most things!
