When I landed in Vegas I was greeted by a Benefit vending machine selling miniature travel sized versions of concealers, their product called Gimme Brow, and a range of mascaras. Everything you could want.
It was so unbelievably cute and well placed. It made me realise just how many Benefit products are go-to’s in my make up bag. I love the Eye Patrol Eye Primer, I love their whole range that brings wow to the brow, and I love their store on 3rd St West Hollywood where you can be waxed and tinted and have your brows remapped.
As soon as I was back I booked myself in for tint and wax, which is the best $33 you can spend for instant transformation.
In the past they have given me samples to try and 8 out of 10 times I went back and bought the product. I am mascara obsessed because I have thin, sparse eyelashes. Benefit They’re Real really does thicken and lengthen. They have another one for curling called Roller Lash Curling Mascara, it is packaged to look like a retro hair roller and the brush curls. The trick is to buy both and apply two coats.
Recently I have discovered their latest trick. The sister product to They’re Real lashes is They’re Real Tinted Primer.
I remember when lash primers first came out. They were white and gloopy and they seemed to add a white glue coat, which you had to really work hard to cover with mascara. They also tended to be drying and make eyelashes snap off. Plus the whole thing took too much time, as they never seemed to go on properly. I have long since binned the whole time consuming process.
Not with this primer though. It is tinted brown so it is easy to cover and you can wear it as mascara if you are after a barely there look and it still manages to pack a punch.
It is extraordinarily moisturizing. It separates the lashes in preparation for a doll-like look but it looks effortless and natural. Using just the primer alone the eyelashes look glossy and thick. Paired with They’re Real mascara they look full on amazing.
Benefit have obviously really examined what was wrong in the lash primer world, taken it on board and totally reinvented the idea of priming.
I’ve never worn brown mascara before although Benefit calls this colour Mink, which probably goes with most skin tones.
If you want to wear it on its own, you really can wear it without mascara because it does have drama to it in the way it separates and boosts length.
It contains pro-vitamin B5 so you feel you are giving your lashes a treat rather than torture. And the other good thing is if you pair the primer with the mascara it will last hours and hours before you have to retouch. You don’t have to use They’re Real mascara on top of the primer; it can empower any mascara you happen to have.
