The Beauty Bit: In the Pink

Mimi ON Nov 18, 2008 AT 3:59 pm

As the last vestiges of my summer tan disappear, it’s time to put the bronzers away and start investing in some serious healthy winter glow for cheeks.

Whether you opt for peachy fresh, pink and innocent or even experiment with the purple vibe, getting your apples seamlessly chic is all about the application. My top tip is that less is always more – overkill cheeks are a style no-no, so go gently and add more if needed. Blend till you can no longer spell the word, and only ever colour the plumpest part of the cheeks (find them by smiling!) – no upwards 80’s sweeping to the ears, dears.

Here’s my pick of the current crop:

Clinique Fresh Bloom Allover Colour in Blackberry Bloom
This beautiful palette is designed for serious brush swirling so that a diffusion of colour highlights and defines the cheeks. Combining berry shades, the overall result is dewy and sheer.
£23 (from November 1st).

Becca Crème Blush in Turkish Rose
This blush seems to be an instant favourite with anyone who encounters it. Creamy, tactile and easy to apply and blend, cheeks look very naturally fresh and flushed.
£22 www.hqhair.com

Korres Colour Zea Mays Powder Blush, in Purple Brown
A little goes a long way with this intensely velvety blush that’s also moisturising; use a fat and fluffy brush to give sheer, even colour over cheek apples.
£16.50 Available nationwide
