The Beauty Bit: Splash Out Beauty
Mimi ON Apr 01, 2009 AT 9:30 am
In the midst of a credit crunch, it seems that penny pinching doesn’t count when it comes to beauty. The beauty arena doesn’t seem to suffer in line with the economy; Leonard Lauder’s Lipstick Index theory holds true through every crisis. A little dabble with beauty seems more an essential than a luxury, and if a lipstick purchase diverts us from snapping up those must-have shoes a snip at £600 then that’s what I call a pretty useful buy. Here’s my pick of the splash-out beauties hitting the shelves right now.
Mimi x
La Prairie Skin Caviar Crystalline Concentrate
This high performance serum is packed with AHA’s, peptides and amino acids to boost cell renewal and plump the skin, while a shower of diamond, mica and quartz crystals give the complexion luminosity and radiance. £230, La Prairie Counters Nationwide.
Crème de la Mer Moisturising Creme
During the month of June, Crème de la Mer packaging takes on a limited edition blue hue and donates all proceeds of the 250ml World Ocean Day Crème to marine conservation organisation, Oceana. As kelp forms a vital part of the Crème’s ingredient list, it’s a natural match. £518.72, exclusively at Harrods.
Chantecaille La Baleine Palettes
These beautiful palettes from Chantecaille also have a philanthropic theme; depicting a mother whale and her calf. Le Baleine Blue (the blue whale) is a merge of grey/blue hues for eyes, while La Baleine Blanche (the white whale) is a balance of warm gold’s and ivory for highlighting. 5% of proceeds go to the International Union for Conservation of Nature. £85 each, 020 7629 9161.
