SkinCeuticals Brightening UV Defense SPF 30

Bright, glowing skin with SkinCeuticals Brightening UV Defense SPF 30

Global Lust by Chrissy Iley

I had a frightening skin screening recently. I don’t have wrinkles but I have pigmentation, known rather cruelly as age spots. Pigmentation is more ageing than lines. Lines can be filled. I have always tried to stay out of the sun but sometimes sun is accidental, it’s behind the clouds or it’s on and off but nonetheless potent and damaging.

SkinCeuticals have come up with something tiny but powerfully gorgeous. Their brightening UV defence SPF30 is tiny enough to be carried everywhere and slip into the see-through plastic bag required for creams to pass through airport security.
On a recent trip to Sicily where it was cloudy but sunny, powerfully sunny then cloudy again, the kind of sun that sneaks up on you I used it as my moisturising base. Result – no further damage at all.

First of all it was hydrating and absorbed into the skin well. So many sunscreens do not blend easily. This did. And it did not disappear even though the weather was muggy ad sweaty. Its magic comes from the way it improves the appearance of uneven age spotted pigmented patchy skin. It fades everything out. It is deliciously lightweight and ungreasy, it doesn’t feel heavy and it works fine under make-up. It is actually a very good base designed to target hyper-pigmentation. It not only has an instant smoothing out effect, it is said to reduce long-term further pigmentation damage.

Its credentials boast state of the art UV filters Mexoryl SX and XL which provide protection against UVA rays.

I remember the days before SPF. I didn’t know what it was and on a beach as a child I might have been given factor 2 or factor 15 was thought to be the ultimate. Now, we all know better but for a long time even though I’ve known I’ve not been good about SPF factor – easy to forget when the products haven’t been perfect. Often too rich, oily and always left my skin dry and made make-up go on blotchy.

So for me this small grey tube is revolutionary.
