Treatment of the Fortnight: Dove Spa Quench Facial

Welcome to our new feature, Treatment of the Fortnight. Every two weeks (trust me, it’ll fly by) I’ll be bringing you the lowdown on the best beauty treatments that are available on the UK market (and maybe some global ones too if you’re lucky!) Whether it’s a facial, mani/pedi, wax, head or body treatment…you name it, we’ll try it and give you our honest thoughts on what we endured, sorry, enjoyed!

Here’s to being pampered princesses…don’t say we’re not good to you!

Dove Spa Quench Facial, Re-aqua Spa, Kensington
I arrived at the Re-aqua Spa for my Dove facial last Saturday in need of a good pampering. At this time of year everyone deserves a little bit of the clichéd ‘me time’ and I was at the front of the queue.

The spa is located in the midst of Virgin Active where very fit and beautiful people file past you on their way to tone their already taut bodies to perfection (it is Kensington after all!) I opted for the escalator to the Spa and was led to a peaceful room where I met Lynette, the lady with the magic hands.

First up was a thorough skincare diagnostic process which involved prodding and pressing onto various areas of my face to test for moisture, sebum, pigmentation and elasticity. After analysis, Lynette advised that I would be having a bespoke Quench facial due to varying amounts of dryness on my face…it was just the ticket because I often feel like my skin is one size too small and needs an injection of moisture to look its best.

I lay down and relaxed as Lynette began a deep cleanse and exfoliation of my face. The movement of her hands and the pressure she applied was ideal; not heavy handed just continual pressure in circular movements over my face and neck which wiped away all my stress and pain.  In addition to the natural flow of energy in the massage, my skin was also nourished using a mild galvanic current to further aid re-hydration. This basically means that I held onto a glass tube while a small current transferred from machine to Lynette  and then to myself helping to moisturise my skin (and not painful at all if you’re wondering!) I was massaged some more before a face mask was applied to ensure my skin was well fed and quenched.

As my skin enjoyed the benefits of the mask, Lynette filed and applied a clear polish to my nails as an extra treat (you can choose from a range of ‘ extra treats’.) I then had some time to relax and ponder when I could come back to this little haven.

During my treatment all products used on my skin were from the Dove Spa Professional Skincare and I was really impressed with the texture and quality.

After it was all over I floated outside and continued my ‘me day’ by indulging in a spot of retail therapy. What a glorious afternoon.

Go on, celebrate the real you!
