The Bulgarian fashion magazine, 12, is causing quite a stir in the world of beauty with its most recent editorial, entitled “Victim of Beauty.”
Featuring six horrific images of injured models, some with split lips and broken noses, others sporting sliced-open mouths and slit throats but all with immaculately styled hair, perfectly polished skin and flawless make-up, the shoot is a rather distasteful attempt to highlight the transformative power of make up. But we’re simply left feeling horrified and disturbed.
The concept of such inherently violent imagery being held up as ‘beautiful’ and worthy of editorial is rather troubling. We can’t imagine how domestic violence could be so candidly glamourised and in turn, glorified. But what do you think? Does the ‘Victim of Beauty’ editorial push the boundaries of art or is it just incredibly offensive?
