Spend five minutes dancing any way you like to music

Finding it hard to get revved up and ready to rock n roll on these snowy mornings? Yep, we are too. So, we got the healthy people from Amara Spa in Fulham to give us their top tips for feeling tip-top and raring to go. These instant energisers will shake off any sluggishness and get your body buzzing.
 
You Are a Cat:
While still lying down, slowly stretch arms high above the head with your legs in the opposite direction and take deep breaths in and out. From this stretch curl up into a tiny ball, bringing your knees right into your chest and hold onto the back of the thighs to press your knees to your chest. From here, slowly lower your bent legs to one side while lowering your arms across to the opposite side. These moves extend, flex and rotate the spine bringing a natural sense of awakening.
 
Dance It Out:
Spend five minutes dancing any way you like to music – the radio is fine – gets the heart rate up, mobilises your joints, pumps up the circulation, and improves balance, co-ordination and posture. If you sing along too, expect your spirits to soar (although your neighbours might not be so happy)!

Time Trial:
Set yourself a specific time limit, say ten minutes, that won’t make you stressed or late for work and figure out a mini-aerobic routine with your favourite moves. Include squats, push-ups, knee lifts and tricep dips and make sure to work your muscles in pairs (i.e. biceps/triceps). This is a great way to shake awake and fit a healthy toning regime into the busiest time of year when you just can’t make it to the gym.
