by SCforM: Skin Care for Men

An amazing name for a fantastic treatment; I recently went to see celebrity facialist Nuz Shugaa at The Beauty Lounge (London W1) for her signature Men’s treatment; the Wall Street Facial. I’ll preface this by saying that although i’m Skin Care for Men, I don’t really like facials, massages and the sort. I blame it on my short attention span; I can’t stand having to lie on a bed doing nothing for more than a few minutes.

The Wall Street Facial, however, was completely different to any facial I’ve ever had - the time flew by and I left with skin that looked awake, glowing and healthy for days afterwards.

Both Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper see Nuz for facials before major events or movie shoots.

The facial starts off with Nuz (or one of her trained therapists, depending on how much cash you part with) giving you a brief breakdown of the treatment you’re going to have. It’s clear from the get-go that Nuz (and her team) know a lot about skin.

Nuz quickly determined that my t-zone (and the tip of my chin!) are slightly oily and at that my cheeks were sensitive and dry thanks to shaving. Once that was done, Nuz started my Wall Street facial!

The best thing about this facial – and the reason why I liked it so much – is that there’s always something new happening to your skin every few minutes so the time flies by. Nuz uses 100% natural and organic oils, scrubs, serums, cleansers and balms on your skin, massaging something and then applying something else every few minutes – there’s absolutely no point at which you’re sat on the bed waiting for things to dry or sink in.

It sounds like a lot but everything is very mild on the skin and yet very thorough and effective – nothing is left on the skin for more than a few minutes. Your skin is massaged, moisturised, deep cleaned and you also get your blackheads extracted thoroughly but with such care that you’re not left looking red after the treatment.

In fact, because Nuz works on celebrity clients (at the Salon, on location or, more recently, at awards shows like the MOBOs) she has to ensure that skin is ‘camera ready’ immediately after a facial – that means it can’t look greasy or red or irritated in any way.

The inside looks like a 1940s apartment, rooms are private and comfy. Thumbs up!

I highly recommend going to The Beauty Lounge to try out the Wall Street Facial – busy guys can even have this done during a lunch break; the express treatments take around 35 minutes.

The Beauty Lounge can be found at 1 Kingly Court, W1B 5PW – call 020 7734 6161 to book in advance.
