Chez Vrony

Chez Vrony

continued…

With so many delicious mountain restaurants sprawling over the Swiss to Italian mountains it will make you hungry just deciding where to go. Here is a quick slalom through the culinary delights awaiting you: accessible by ski, in the tiny hamlet of Findeln, are Der Findlerhof, which does the best black truffle ravioli, and the Heinz Julen designed Chey Vrony, where you must try the home cured meats and Rosti. Just below Furri is the astonishingly good Zum See, which serves the finest homemade pasta, millefeuille and crème brulee you’ll ever eat, not to mention superb Gluwhein. Over in Cervinia, for a true taste of authentic Italian cooking like Spaghetti Lobster and Wild Boar Sausages, go to the renowned suntrap Chalet Etoile just above Plan Maison.

Snowboat

Snowboat

If you aren’t too full after your mountain feast begin your après ski in the Hennu Stall before hitting Snowboat by the river. They both have a lively atmosphere where you can sip anything from an elegant cosmopolitan to local beers. Next stop has to be Elsie’s, an institution in the Valais. In what you may mistake for a wooden hut you will be cocooned by the panda eyed connoisseurs of cocktails, oysters and caviar. To finish the night off head over to the fashionable Vernissage bar where Robbie Williams celebrated the millennium.

Coeurs Des Alpes hotel

Coeurs Des Alpes hotel

There are some incredible hotels to stay at in Zermatt, but if you want quality without a big price tag I would recommend Coeur des Alpes, which offers hospitality at the highest level. This trendy, glass fronted boutique hotel has a superb spa where you can indulge in a massage after a long day skiing or bask in the sun with the Matterhorn looking directly over you. Or, if you are looking for a boutique hotel with an edge why not try the Petit Cervin, sister hotel to the Mont Cervin Palace. The hotel has an underground passage that leads directly into the Mont Cervin Palace allowing guests to take full advantage of the hotels spa and restaurants.
