Boutique by Jaeger, AW10 collection

For those that find the luxury British brand Jaeger, a bit too frumpy for the average twentysomething woman, take note as it’s all about to change. 

Jaeger is introducing its latest addition to the high-end fashion brand with its pop-up shop Boutique by Jaeger, located off the iconic Carnaby Street at 10 Foubert’s Place. 

A whole new, younger generation of Jaeger fans can look forward to Boutique by Jaeger opening in London’s West End on 7th August 2010 as the boutique-style is slated to be quite different than the traditional Jaeger-style that’s been seen before. The new Boutique by Jaeger collection is hoped to capture the liberated spirit of the Sixties and combine it with a contemporary rock ‘n’ roll appeal for an overall stylish eye-candy look for young women. 

Liam Gallagher for Pretty Green Opening

Is there a lad in your life who could use a wardrobe makeover? Look no further than this Friday (30th July) for the perfect menswear fashion fix when Pretty Green, a British clothing line owned, founded and designed by Liam Gallagher, will open on 57 Carnaby Street.

 The standalone store is a first for Liam and will only be open for a limited time (possibly until Christmas). Like the store, the range of clothing is also limited edition and includes t-shirts, shirts, jackets, hats, scarves and footwear for the spring/summer fashion season.

With Pretty Green, Liam Gallagher has managed to collect his passion for clothes and music into one place. Expect to see designs inspired by the art and music of the 1960’s and styles that are cool, classic British in the Green Label and Black Label SS 2010 collections.

If you’re already looking ahead to the AW collection, Pretty Green is too and they’re in search of a model to become the face of their upcoming collection. The contest ends 31st July, and the photo shoot with Liam Gallagher will take place on 11th August in London.

Lily Allen

Lucy In Disguise is not a new record, but it’s still a good deal—for us! Lily Allen’s boyfriend, Sam Cooper, might have had something to do with the young singer/songwriter calling it quits on the music business last year, but she says she’s happier than she’s ever been before. And now that she’s freed herself from music, she’s turned her attention to fashion and her ongoing affair with clothes.

With her sister Sarah Owen, Lily has made the plans to open Lucy In Disguise, a vintage clothing shop, in September. The fashion label will make its debut at the new summer festival Vintage at Goodwood. It is the first festival to combine music, fashion, design and retail to celebrate five decades of British cool with venues from the 1940’s to the 1980’s. The event will take place from Friday 13 August to Sunday 15 August. Lucy In Disguise will be featured during that time before the shop’s official opening in London’s West End.

25-year-old Lily Allen may seem like she’s turned from all-party girl to big-venture businesswoman in the matter of a few short years, but underneath it all, Lily just wants to be in the business of babies. Her music career has taken up most of her time in the past five years, but what she’s been saying lately suggests she’d love nothing more than to go from songstress to little Susie homemaker. She’s taken up the role already by cooking up many meals for builder boyfriend Sam Cooper, 31, and that’s only the beginning. Lily says she plans to have children in the next year.

Unlike her failed quit-Twitter attempt, maybe Lily Allen really has quit music for good (for the next five years at least), and that means fashion benefits for us all. Lucy In Disguise will feature a collection of vintage evening and cocktail wear from various eras that customers can either rent or buy with the average price of an outfit costing £100. The clothes will be sourced by Lily from vintage fairs and markets—and her own closet!

Mad About Style Guide

Do you love Mad Men’s 1960’s sense of style? Banana Republic does, and they want you to have it. The fashion retailer launched its Mad About Style campaign for AMC’s Emmy award-winning series by having Mad Men-inspired fashion donning their window displays from 21 July to 11 August.

Simon Kneen, the dashing Creative Director and Executive Vice President of Design for Banana Republic (what a title!), was quoted in the Mad About Style Guide saying, ‘What makes this collaboration so brilliant is the common thread between us: We’re both mad about style.’

This is the second year in a row that Banana Republic has partnered with Mad Men to show off the best modern takes on 60’s fashion style. And now they’re inviting you to show off your mad (wo)men style.

As part of the partnership and promotion, the Mad About Style Guide is being offered up along with a chance to win a walk-on role in Season 5, plus a $1,000 Banana Republic gift card. That means three cardigans, two pencil skirts, one hobo handbag, and five pairs of peep-toe pumps! But before you get too jazzed, let’s look at the fine print on that baby. The casting call contest is open to US and Canadian residents only… Sad face.

Mad About Style Guide

Stella McCartney for Adidas Glow-in-the-dark range

Stella McCartney has created a glow-in-the-dark range for Adidas.

The fashion designer – who was recently announced as the creative director of the sportswear firm’s kit for both the British Olympic and Paralympic teams to wear at the London event – came up with the idea for the company’s best-selling running category as she wanted wearers to feel safe.

She said: “Running is one of our most popular categories and for me to make it have its own point of view is really key. I think that we did it this season in a direct way by looking at glow-in-the-dark. When you are running in an urban environment, you need to feel safe, when people can see you coming and stand out, especially in winter when it gets dark earlier. But at the same time we used it on a leopard print, so it’s not so masculine and graphic.”

As well as the glow-in-the dark collection, Stella has also created a Wintersports line, so consumers look fashionable while on the slopes.

She said: “For me, this season Wintersports has got great attitude, it’s very bold; some of the fleecy pieces are quite edgy. The Wintersports slim pants and tight jackets are very figure-hugging, they look really stylish, and it’s important to be a stylish skier because it’s one of the few sports where you can take fashion to the slopes and it can translate well.”

Beach Bunny Swimwear 2011

Is that lingerie I see? Nope, that would be a swimsuit fit for a public beach apparently!

For five days in Miami Beach, the runway sizzled with the 2011 swimwear collection showcased at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim. The Kardashian sisters—Kim, Khloe and Kourtney—partnered up with Beach Bunny’s Angela Chittenden to bring us this truly scandalous swimsuit collection that scorched the runway on Friday 16 July, the second day of shows.

The three sisters, along with teen starlet Selena Gomez, were spotted sitting front row at Friday’s show as the Kardashians for Beach Bunny swimwear line made its debut. And from barely-there colours to bottom-baring bikinis, Beach Bunny left little to the imagination. Playmate Kim Kardashian might have had something to do with that as some of the swimsuit models looked like they jumped right out of Playboy’s centerfold and onto the Miami runway.

Putting aside the suits that look like they were fashioned after loin cloths and lingerie, we come into one last scandalous style worn by Beach Bunny models. Meet the dominatrix beach babe. You’d expect to see some bright, cheery colours for the summer months, but Beach Bunny turned to the dark with S&M-style swimwear, complete with thigh-high stockings, lacy gloves and face masks.
