Chanel Love Letters

Chanel have become well known for their amazing short animations (remember the amazing Chanel Robots and the Shade Parade?!) and it looks like they’re up to no good again for Valentine’s Day.

We’ve got our hands on two teasers for the latest additions to the CHANEL Makeup Confidential film roster and it looks like this one’s for Valentine’s Day. ‘Love Letters’, created by the Creative Director of CHANEL makeup, Peter Philips, hints at a similar set up to Robots and Shade Parade with the makeup animated into a countdown and other romantic images.

The full length film comes out on Thursday 9th February at www.chanel-makeup-confidential.chanel.com

We’ve just had a sneak peak of Vanity Fair’s Hollywood Issue and it’s a goodun’!

This year’s Hollywood issue was shot (for the first time ever) by Mario Testino and includes some of Hollywood’s hottest leading ladies, all shot against an Art Deco backdrop.

Across the page spread are actresses Rooney Mara, Mia Wasikowska, Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, Elizabeth Olsen, Adepero Oduye, Shailene Woodley, Paula Patton, Felicity Jones, Lily Collins, and Brit Marling.

Who’s your favourite?? We love Jennifer Lawrence.

Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue

Fancy a bit of vintage dining? Well, this January gin brand Bombay Sapphire and The Savoy Hotel have teamed up to bring you a glamorous 1920’s, vintage inspired eight-course menu and cocktail pairing, showcased at the Bombay Sapphire Chef’s Table at the Savoy Grill restaurant.

Head Chef Andy Cook has created a vintage ‘Rich and Poor’ themed menu, reflecting the transitional period between the two classes and economies that existed during the 1920’s. The menu will be complimented by 1920s themed Bombay Sapphire cocktails created specially by Head Mixologist Sam Carter.

You can expect food for the rich, including rock oysters served with a

Bombay Sapphire Aviation Fizz and roasted rack of veal served with a Bombay Sapphire Gin Cobbler and food for the poor, including Fish stew and Welsh rarebit.

The 1920s eight-course menu costs £150 per person (A maximum of eight guests per seating). Available from January – March 2012. Bookings made via The Savoy Grill restaurant.

We tried out their new Polish in Late Night Ruby yesterday and it left us with a amazing manicure. Super rich colours that only need 2 layers to be amazingly opaque and ultra shiny. The polishes are in enriched with ruby, which although sounds nice, looks even nicer.

Dragon's Blood Sculpting Gel

Move over Charlie Sheen and your ‘Tiger Blood’ there’s a new blood in town… Dragon Blood.

Skincare brand Rodial are about to launch a new skincare product dubbed Dragon’s Blood Sculpting Gel. The gel is supposed to be ‘an innovative anti-ageing formula that helps to define facial contours and add volume to sagging skin’.

‘Dragon’s Blood forms a second skin-like protective film, renowned to protect against external aggressions, reducing redness and inflammation.’

Now unless we’ve all been duped, Dragon’s aren’t real so where does the name come from? In actual fact the product gets its name from the “Sangre De Drago” tree so we don’t feel too conned… However, we’re just not sure. Is this product another play on a new industry buzz-word or will the promised effects actually be worth the £75 price tag?

92% of trial volunteers saw a increase in skin elasticity in 3 months, so we’ll just have to wait until we try it for ourselves…

Bridesmaids dresses featured in the 100th Gossip Girl episode

Vera Wang and costume designer Eric Daman bring us a close-up look at the gowns worn by the leading ladies of Gossip Girl in the show’s royal wedding episode.

In the show’s 100^th episode, in which Blair (Leighton Meester) is set to wed Prince Louis (Hugo Becker), Blair’s bridesmaids can be seen wearing cutesy pastel dresses, each cinched at the waist with a black bow. The one-shoulder gowns are certainly couture, but perhaps not the most flattering thanks to the sheer volume of fabric gathered at the bottom of the dress.

Vera Wang’s couture maid-of-honour gown is our favourite and comes in a delicate pink  with layers of hand-fringed ruffles, a veiled bustier and cinched waist.

Not to be outdone, Blair reportedly wears a cream wedding gown composed of several layers of hand-stitched lace, which Vera claims to be “a new take on classic.” The gown apparently features nearly 100 buttons that run down the back of the train! Impressive stuff…

The cast of The Help accept a 2012 SAG Award for Best Cast

Stars lined the red carpet last night at the Shrine Exposition Centre in Los Angeles for the 18^th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. The women of The Help swept the show, winning 3 major awards including Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Cast.

Viola Davis, who won Best Actress for her work in the drama about the lives of housekeepers in the 1960s south, said she was “so proud” to be honoured and that “you can’t trade in your dream for another dream.”

Cast member and winner of Best Supporting Actress, Octavia Spencer, added that she hoped the film gave people a voice.

“These women represented our mothers and grandmothers, and it was their courage and them facing the challenges that they faced every day in living their life in dignity and grace,” Spencer said.

Betty White, Kate Winslet, Steve Buscemi and the cast of Modern Family also received nods at the ceremony, while Mary Tyler Moore went home with a Lifetime Achievement award for her work in film and television.

On the red carpet, Tilda Swinton, Rose Byrne and Zoe Saldana all looked eye-catching in cream. Jessica Chastain shone in a royal blue custom Calvin Klein Collection gown, accessorized with $2.5 million in Harry Winston jewels. Emily Blunt looked charming on the arm of hubby John Krasinksi, wearing a glamourous emerald green Oscar de la Renta number, while Amber Heard appeared sultry in a black, fitted Zac Posen dress featuring a number of cutouts.

Rihanna

Rihanna has splashed out £100,000 on a Swarovski crystal portrait of Marilyn Monroe!

The ‘We Found Love’ hitmaker commissioned British artist Claire Milner to create the huge picture of the tragic Hollywood icon using 65,000 Swarovski crystals and then spent thousands of pounds to have it shipped to her home in Beverly Hills.

Claire told The Sun newspaper: “I tried to show the glitter of the public life and the sadness in Marilyn’s eyes. Because of who Rihanna is everything had to be done through her interior decorators. But they told me afterwards that she loved it.

“A 100 per cent Swarovski crystal portrait is very luxurious – people stand and stare because it constantly changes colour, sending rainbows round the room.”

Rihanna is a huge fan of the ‘Seven Year Itch‘ star, previously revealing she and close pal Katy Perry once both chose the same Dolce and Gabbana dress inspired by Marilyn to wear to the Metropolitan Institute Costume Gala.

She said: “One time we were going to the Met Ball, and Katy phoned me to check. We were like, ‘Oh My God’, we were both going in this dress by Dolce and Gabbana with Marilyn Monroe’s face all over it.

“She was like, ‘You can’t. I’ve had my nails done in mink and it matches the dress. I thought, seeing as she’d gone to all that effort, I’d let her wear it.”
