Penn Badgley

You might recognise this good looking actor from Gossip Girl as Penn Badgley plays Blake Lively’s character’s love interest, Dan Humphries on the hit TV show.

After graduating from Santa Monica City College, he attended the University of Southern California. He began dabbling in voice-overs for a children’s radio station, after which he decided to pursue his love for acting and got his big break on ‘Will & Grace‘.

In terms of his time onscreen, he played Scott Tucker in John Tucker Must Die and was also cast in the American thriller Stepfather. His next upcoming movie will be Margin Call alongside Zachary Quinto.

As far as we know, Badgley is currently single, however he did date his then-onscreen girlfriend, Blake Lively. Sadly for him, Blake is now dating Leonardo DiCaprio…

Ginnifer Goodwin

Hailing from Memphis, Tennessee, Ginnifer Goodwin quickly found a home in Hollywood. Best known for her role as the third wife in the HBO hit series Big Love, Goodwin made her first big screen debut in 2003 in Mona Lisa Smile and soon after the she was gaining steady work amongst star studded casts on films such as Walk the Line and He’s Just Not That Into You (which she was nominated for a People’s Choice Award for Breakout Movie Actress).

Goodwin is classically trained in English theatre; a student at Stratford-Upon-Avon’s Shakespeare Institute, in conjunction with the Royal Shakespeare Company, she earned an “Acting Shakespeare Certificate” at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art before graduating from University of Boston with a BFA in Acting with honours.

Long-term boyfriend, Joey Kern, and Goodwin announced their engagement last December and are planning the wedding for the coming fall.

Goodwin’s most recent film, Something Borrowed, hits cinemas 6 May. So be sure to add this to your list and be on the lookout for more from this rising star!

Anne Heche

Thanks in part to her most recent film, Cedar Rapids, Anne Heche has managed once again to catch the public’s attention. This latest news break is less loony than her past headliners centered around her personal life.

It’s been a decade since her last big news grab when (after being with Ellen DeGeneres for three years) the couple split and the next day Heche knocked on the door of a home in Fresno, California. Dazed and scantily clad, Heche told the owners her SUV had broken down, asked to take a shower, and then made herself at home.

When the police arrived a short time later, Heche declared she was God and would take everyone back to heaven in her spaceship. Press reports at the time explained that her disorientation was the result of mental illness—fueled by the drug Ecstasy—stemming from childhood sexual abuse by her father, which led her to create an alter ego named Celestia. She speaks of her childhood trauma in her memoir, “Call Me Crazy.”

After her split with DeGeneres, Heche married cameraman Coley Laffoon and had a son, Homer. Nearly six years later, the couple split; after a long-running court battle over spousal and child support, the divorce was finalized in 2009. That same year Heche had another little boy with James Tupper, her co-star of “Men in Trees” TV series.

Heche’s career on TV and film began at eighteen when she was cast as evil twins Vicky and Marley on the television drama, “Another World” for which she won Day Time Emmy and Soap Opera Digest Awards.

Appearing in a few well known American films after her final taping of “Another World”, Heche worked alongside names such as Harrison Ford, Johnny Depp, and Tommy Lee Jones. Also this year she is due to appear in the move Rampart with Robin Wright, Steve Buscemi, and Sigourney Weaver.

Shiloh Fernandez

Shiloh Fernandez can be seen steaming up the big screen in the new film, ‘Red Riding Hood.’

This American actor and model was born on 26 February 1985 in Ukiah, California. He is best known for his roles in the films, ‘Jericho,’ and ‘United States of Tara.’ Fernandez began his career at the young age of five. He was soon discovered by American Apparel CEO, Dov Charney to become one of the models for the company.

Fernandez holds a tiny secret though…in 2008 he was one of the four front-runners to play the iconic role that girls scream and faint over, Edward Cullen. He went into the audition blind with no formal training before hand.

His first big break came when he landed the role in the 2010 Sundance hit Skateland. He has also been seen on the hit American show, ‘Gossip Girl.’

Catherine Hardwick, the director of ‘Twilight,’ must of held a special spot in her heart for Fernandez because he is now playing the romantic lead alongside Amanda Seyfried in the film, ‘Red Riding Hood.’ This film is set to hit theatres on 15 April 2011, so be sure to check out Shiloh Fernandez and of course….watch our for the big bad wolf!

Rashida Jones

Rashida Jones’ resume is impressive in the first instance as she started out at Harvard University! However more recently she’s appeared alongside James Franco and Anne Hathaway in Vanity Fair’s Hollywood issue, securing her as one to watch…

Filled with ambition to pursue a career in law, she became disillusioned after the O.J. Simpson murder trail and instead continued her education at Harvard in religion studies and philosophy while becoming very involved in the performing arts. Graduating in 1997, Jones almost immediately landed her first professional acting job in an American miniseries, The Last Don, and continues to appear in television.

Her most memorable television role is Karen on the American show, The Office, based on the British original series from 2006-2011. Lately Jones has broken into the film industry with solid supporting performances in “I Love You Man” and “The Social Network.”

Without a doubt her most successful movie, “The Social Network” has been nominated for 8 Academy Awards and won the Golden Globes for Best Director, Screenplay, Best Score, and Best Picture, Drama.

Frenemy Comic Series

Not to be pigeon holed, Jones created her own comic book series-a spy thriller “Frenemy of the State” that was published in September of last year. The series follows a celebrity socialite that doubles as a CIA secret agent. Sounds like someone is living vicariously. Additionally Jones sold the screen rights and will co-write the screenplay for the film.

A new kind of triple threat, she acts, writes, and sings! Jones has provided back vocals for Maroon 5 in their debut record, Songs About Jane, and on their follow-up album, It Won’t Be Soon Before Long. Appearing in several soundtracks for her television series she appears in, Jones is a success in more than one avenue. Be on the look out for this woman…who knows where she will turn up next.

Alex Pettyfer

Some people may have seen Brit actor/model Alex Pettyfer, in ads for Burberry, Gap and Ralph Lauren but he first made a name for himself when he was mush younger!

Alex Pettyfer was born on 10 April 1990 in Stevenage, Hertfordshire England. He began his career as a child model for the Gap, and then moved on to acting in his school plays, one being Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

He attended a theatre school after school, and then made his acting debut in the film, Tom Browns Schooldays, which he nabbed the lead for. He then went on and stole the lead for the film Stormbreaker… which he actually chose over the film Eragon because of his fear of flying! Plus, this way he managed to stay in Britain to film Stormbreaker.

Pettyfer is not much of a Wild Thing, however, he co-starred with Emma Roberts on the film.  An on and off screen romance budded between this duo but it was short lived. For Pettyfer, it will remain a part of him forever because he has a tattoo in honour of Roberts – two hearts interlinked with the initials ‘ER’ in the middle of it. Sickly, we know. They do remain good friends though according to the actor himself.

This coming year will be a huge milestone for Pettyfer’s career. He is set to star in not one, not two, but three films! His next film set to release 23 February 2011, I Am Number Four, is about  a group of four people running for their lives as a ruthless enemy is sent to destroy them… in order of number. His lovely co-star for the film is Dianna Agron (Quinn in Glee) and on a little side note; they are now officially a couple! Keeping it within the business we see Alex?

We will also see Pettyfer starring in the modern day twist of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast! Now this may not be a Tale as old as time, but it is definitely one to see. Pettyfer will be starring along side Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical) in the film Beastly. It is set to release on 15 April 2011.

And if these don’t fit your fancy, you can see him in the film, Now, set to be released on 30 September 2011. It has an all star cast with Justin Timberlake, Olivia Wilde and Amanda Seyfried to name a few! It is about the future where ageing has stopped, but people must pay to stay alive.

Keep an eye out because we will definitely be seeing a lot more of Alex Pettyfer in the future and we definitely don’t mind… especially now he’s grown up a bit from his boyish look in Tom Brown’s School Days!

Felicity Jones in Like Crazy

Felicity Jones, a rising star, is officially breaking through into the acting spotlight and her new film, Like Crazy, a love story starring Jones and Anton Yelchin, is currently playing at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah.

You may know her from her 2008 role in Brideshead Revisited or her 2010 films, Albatross, Cemetery Junction, SoulBoy and The Tempest (as Miranda in the Shakespeare adaptation).  But now the versatile actress is expanding her repertoire again.

The 27-year-old British actress from Birmingham was born 19 January 1984 and went on to study English at Wadham College in Oxford.

While at school she appeared in many student plays such as Attis, in which she starred, and Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors.  She has also been on the television programmes The Worst Witch where she played Hallow and Weirdsister College with a reprised roll.  Her best-known roll was probably as Emma Carter on The Archers.

In 2008 Felicity was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Standard Theatre Awards for The Chalk Garden at the Donmar Warehouse.

This coming year alone her projects include Chalet Girl, which also stars Ed Westwick and Brook Shields, Hysteria, and an announced role in Page 8.  She is projected in 2012 to act in the films This Beautiful Fantastic, Trap for Cinderella, and a rumored Snow White and the Huntsman.

We’ve been watching Felicity for a while now, and her career seems to be blossoming before our eyes.  We can’t wait to see what else she has in store for the stage!

Tom Hardy in the movie, Inception

Inception hunk Tom Hardy, who was nominated for a 2011 BAFTA Orange Rising Star Award for the film, is set to play a large role in the upcoming Batman 3; The Dark Knight Rises (out in 2012)… and we can’t wait to see more of the hot actor in his upcoming movies.

The English actor, who appeared in Band of Brothers and Black Hawk Down, is et to star in This Means War with Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine, which will be released later this year.

Tom began showing his versatility as an actor when he won a British Independent Film Award for best actor in the 2008 film Bronson, for which he played Britain’s most violent prisoner.  This performance earned him a spot on Variety’s “10 actors to watch” in 2009.

Born 15 September 1977, the 33-year-old has barely taken a breath in his career, including theater, television and film, since he began acting as a young man.  And we’re glad he’s not planning to stop anytime soon.  He even mixed love and work when he met fiancé Charlotte Riley on the set of Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights.  We’re not so glad that he’s off the market though!

This rising star doesn’t just look good – he’s doing good for others in the community, helping disadvantaged people, the homeless, and underprivileged youth through charities.  Now that’s our kind of guy.

Aside from the upcoming role in Batman, there are rumors that the handsome Hardy will play Eric, the huntsman, in Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman.  The classic will also star Angelina Jolie or Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen.

We have no doubt that Tom will outshine his already impressive accomplishments – just one more reason to keep your eye on him.

Andrew Garfield

In 2007 Andrew Garfield was named one of Variety Magazine’s 10 Actors to Watch. Four years later it seems that all eyes are indeed watching as the 28-year-old British-American actor will be the new face of Spiderman this summer!

Andrew was born in Los Angeles and moved to Surrey when he was a child.  He began acting at the age of 15 and won a BAFTA for Best Actor in 2008 for his role in Boy A.

However for his newest project, Andrew will be playing the role of Spider-man’s Peter Parker opposite Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy in the still untitled action flick, which will be released 4th July 2012.  The new movie, which began filming in December, will focus on the origins of Peter Parker.  Of the role, Andrew says, “I am excited like a child is excited.  I feel honoured, because it is part of a legacy that has meant a great deal to me and other skinny boys.”

Andrew recently appeared in the film The Social Network, in which he stars alongside Justin Timberlake and Jesse Eisenberg.  In the film, he plays Eduardo Saverin, one of the cofounders of the social media site Facebook.  The Social Network won Best Motion Picture – Drama at the Golden Globes on January 16th, as well as the awards for Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Original Score.  Andrew was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role.

Along with the Facebook flick, Andrew was nominated in 2010 for the British Independent Film Award for Best Supporting Actor in his critically acclaimed movie Never Let Me Go, which also stars Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan.

We’ve already become entangled in Andrew, and can’t wait to see the future web-slinger don the Spiderman costume.

Matt Long

After Sunday’s season four premiere of Mad Men in the States, everyone is talking about the mystery man who plays Peggy’s new assistant.  Well, he’s no mystery man; his name is Matthew Long.

You may recognize the 30-year-old actor from the short-lived coming-of-age drama Jack and Bobby, which ran for just one season in 2004 on the CW.  Long also played the lead character in ABC’s legal drama, The Deep End, a January 2010 mid-season replacement that was not renewed for a second season, and also featured True Blood’s Mehcad Brooks and Napoleon Dynamite star Tina Majorino. 

Born and raised in Winchester, Kentucky, Long began acting at an early age in elementary school plays.  He continued to act while studying at Western Kentucky University, where he met his now wife Lora Chaffins (the two were married in 2005).

He was discovered by his agent at the Williamstown Theater Fest in Massachusetts, and has since then appeared in the films Sydney White, opposite Amanda Bynes, and Ghost Rider, alongside Nicholas Cage. 

For now, you can catch Matt Long as Joey Baird on Mad Men, though it has yet to be confirmed whether or not he will become a show regular.
