Costa Book Awards Shortlist 2011

Costa Book Awards Shortlist 2011

There’s nothing quite like putting your feet up with a great book and a delicious cup of coffee. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Costa to offer one lucky reader the chance to win a complete set of the 20 books shortlisted for the 2011 Costa Book Awards and Costa coffee cards with credit to spend at any UK Costa outlet.

The Costa Book Awards celebrate the best contemporary British writing and have the single aim of celebrating some of the most enjoyable books of the last year by writers based in the UK and Ireland.

The Awards are unique in that they use a category system – First Novel, Novel, Biography, Poetry and Children’s Book – and highlight a wide range of books and authors across all these five genres.  The variety of books shortlisted ensures that there are plenty of deliciously good reads to suit all tastes.

We’ve got a full set of the 2011 shortlisted books to give away. Two runners up will receive a Costa Coffee card each with £20 of credit.

Authors vying for the awards this year include novelist Julian Barnes for A Sense of an Ending, Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy for The Bees, debut writer Kerry Young for Pao, biographer Claire Tomalin for Charles Dickens: A Life and children’s author and screenwriter, Frank Cottrell Boyce, for The Unforgotten Coat. For more information on this year’s shortlists, go to

The winners in each category will be announced on January 4th, 2012. These five books then go through to compete for the prestigious title of Costa Book of the Year, to be announced at an awards ceremony on January 24th, 2012.

So, for your chance to add some of this year’s most enjoyable books to your bookshelf, simply answer the following question by 11th January 2012:

How many books are there on this year’s shortlist?
