2012 Tony Awards Red Carpet Recap

Last night, Hollywood’s A-listers gathered on the Red Carpet for the American Theater Wing’s 66th Annual Antoinette Perry “Tony” Awards, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris.

As with any star-studded red carpet event, there were somer women who were far better dressed than others! Where last week’s CFDA Awards were a lesson in how to wear high fashion pieces, the Tony Awards focussed more on demure dressing and looking classic at any age.

Judith Light, Sheryl Crow, Bernadette Peters

Singer Sheryl Crow, making her first public appearance since announcing she has brain cancer, dazzled in a satin navy dress with elegant snowflake cutouts on the bodice. Judith Light not only won the award for best featured actress for her role in the play “Other Desert Cities,” she was also one of the best dressed in our book, wearing a classic and elegant white chiffon gown. Bernadette Peters added a touch of much needed glamor to the red carpet in a purple strapless mermaid gown with a tiered hemline.

While we think these starlets shined on the red carpet, others were not quite so sparkly!

Laura Bell Bundy, Jessica Chastain, Amanda Seyfried

Broadway star Laura Bell Bundy looked as though she had come straight from a beauty pageant dressed in a deep purple mermaid gown with rhinestone embellishments on the bodice. Jessica Chastain wore a nude long-sleeved Swarovski embellished frock that was far too old for her and sadly, despite the obvious transparency, didn’t show her figure off in its best light. The beautiful Amanda Seyfried wore a purple slip dress embellished with gold accents, which was sadly overwhelmed by a bright orange belt and matching bag – and although we’re just not sold on the outfit, we do however adore her bright mouth and pulled back hair.

Which 2012 Tony Awards runway look was your favorite?
